Los «Hakka», que significa «la gente invitada», emigraron a Shicang hace más de 150 años y se establecieron con su rica herencia y cultura sistemática de escritura, la ley y piedra angular de la sociedad hakka. La colección de escritura Hakka agrupada en las últimas décadas por un maestro de primaria local, el Sr. Que, se ha convertido en la mayor colección de escritura de Hakka y en un archivo importante para su herencia.
De hecho, el nombre de la aldea de «Shicang», que significa «almacenamiento de piedra», proviene de una leyenda popular de que una cueva de grano mágico se rompió y ya no produjo granos, sino solo piedra, un pacto roto entre los codiciosos espíritus humanos y mágicos.

«Hakka», meaning “the guest people”, immigrated to Shicang over 150 years ago and settled in with their rich Hakka heritage and systematic Hakka indenture culture, the law and keystone of Hakka society. The collection of Hakka indenture in past decades by a local elementary teacher, Mr. Que, has become biggest Hakka indenture collection and an important archive for Hakka heritage.
In fact the village name of «Shicang», meaning “stone storage”, comes from a folk legend that a magic grain cave was broken into and no longer produced grains but only stone, a broken of covenant between greedy human and magic spirits.
