La región de Chanchamayo y su capital La Merced han sido testigos de distintos procesos de inmigración incluso desde antes de su fundación. Desde colonias europeas en el siglo XIX hasta migraciones de la sierra centro y sur del país, motivadas por la agricultura y la producción de café, respectivamente. Esto demuestra que la inmigración fue un proceso más que nada económico dejando de lado los aspectos culturales e identitarios.

The Chanchamayo region and its capital La Merced have witnessed different immigration processes even before its foundation. From European colonies in the 19th century to migrations from the central and southern sierra of the country, motivated by agriculture and coffee production, respectively. This shows that immigration was mainly an economic process, leaving aside cultural and identity aspects.
