LA REAL CASA DEL LABRADOR

Si la arquitectura – aquella representada por los edificios que responden a cabalidad a la complejidad y riqueza de su género artístico – es por esas mismas razones escasa en los edificios de las sociedades que la requieren, esta exigencia se torna más aguda en las obras construidas los dos últimos siglos. Porque si la cultura contemporánea en las recientes décadas no ha hecho sino acentuar la autenticidad de su continuidad histórica, la perspectiva que nos brinda actualmente el distanciamiento de los orígenes de las circunstancias que aquejan nuestra estabilidad política, económica y artística, agudiza el extravío de una continuidad equilibrada y sensata, consecuencia fundamentalmente de la gradual pero inexorable pérdida de nuestra lucidez respecto a nuestros antecedentes intelectuales, sociales y tecnológicos.
Indiscutiblemente, la inquietante perturbación de la armonía que – mutatis mutandis – le permitió al ser humano vivir dentro de condiciones que le brindaban una comprensión perceptible y lúcida respecto a su entorno natural, espiritual e intelectual a lo largo del siglo XVIII – el de la Ilustración – fue alienándose de los equilibrios que había forjado a lo largo de sus longevos antecedentes, la constatación de que la evolución demográfica y la imposición de una percepción global de su ámbito, desembocó en las rupturas que produjeron la Revolución Francesa, la Revolución Industrial y aquella glotonería materialista que colocó a la riqueza en el ápice de los valores humanos.

If architecture – that represented by buildings that fully respond to the complexity and richness of its artistic genre – is for these same reasons scarce in the buildings of the societies that require it, this requirement becomes more acute in the works built in the last two centuries. If contemporary culture in recent decades has only accentuated the authenticity of its historical continuity, the perspective that currently offers us distancing from the origins of the circumstances that afflict our political, economic and artistic stability, sharpens the loss of a balanced and sensible continuity, fundamentally a consequence of the gradual but inexorable loss of our lucidity with respect to our intellectual, social and technological antecedents.
Unquestionably, the obnoxious disturbance of the harmony that – mutatis mutandis – allowed the human being to live within conditions that gave him a perceptible and lucid understanding regarding his natural, spiritual and intellectual environment throughout the eighteenth century – that of the Enlightenment – was alienating itself from the balances that it had forged throughout its long history, the verification that demographic evolution and the imposition of a global perception of its area, led to the ruptures that produced the French Revolution, the Industrial Revolution and that materialistic gluttony that placed wealth at the apex of human values.
